CONSERVATION EFFORTS
Conservation, appreciation and care of the earth are a primary focus at our school. Montessori at Sandy Ford has a very Earth-centered approach to their curriculum, both in the physical sense and the theoretical sense.
The school is a "green" facility, with extra emphasis put on energy conservation technology.
Montessori students practice conservation efforts like recycling, composting, water catchment, and gardening. We even have our pet pig Daphne who helps in the process!
STUDENT LIFE
NATURE STUDIES AND OUTDOOR PLAY
At Montessori at Sandy Ford, we provide ample opportunity for our students to get fresh air, run and play. Our 5 acre campus has trails, gardens, and a myriad of opportunities in which our students may take advantage of all of the wonderful gifts of nature.
CLASSROOM RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to their academic studies, students are responsible for upkeep of the class. Early Childhood classrooms have a designated time each morning for restoring the environment. Older students are assigned a weekly duty to help make the classroom run efficiently and to provide them with an opportunity to take greater responsibility.
Classroom duties include:
-
"Veterinarian"
-
Pencil Chief
-
Chef
-
Awesome Recycler
-
Peacemaker
-
Mathmagician...and more!
